"The world's favourite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May." —Edwin Way Teale
Time is flying by at an impossible speed and I am left speechless that it is already May! May always seems such a positive and happy month, and all the more so this year with a fleet of bank holidays on the horizon. I also always especially love May half term and for this one we are heading to Norfolk which is one of my happiest places; there is much to look forward to this month.
This month I am looking back on:-
An amazing April! I know the weather has been pretty awful and it feels as though Spring is still yet to arrive. April really lived up to its name for being unpredictable, although perhaps it was more ‘April torrential downpours’ than ‘April showers’! Nonetheless, April was a super month.
I organised a collaboration with Hobbs to showcase their Limited Edition collection in their York and Harrogate branches. This is the second time that I have worked with Hobbs after organising an event with Hobbs York last year. It was so exciting to see my picture in the window for this recent collaboration; I was on hand in-store to talk to customers about this special and very limited range, a lot of which sold out incredibly quickly. I wore this amazing Fairfax Dress with its geometric print and Mandarin collar and I just love it. Check out my vlog where I take a look and talk through lots of the pieces in this collection.
April was also the month of a very special trip with my eldest daughter to Paris to celebrate her birthday. We took this short break during the Easter holidays and it was the first time I’ve done anything like this with one of my children. We had such a wonderful time together; Paris is somewhere that Phoebe has always wanted to go and we made some really fantastic memories. Check out my blog for lots of Paris recommendations and my vlog to see some of the things we got up to.
This month I am organising:-
Looking ahead into May and June, I have quite a few events coming up, which are all very exciting. One of these is a makeup event with Charlotte Tilbury at Fenwick in York. Here, I am hosting a masterclass with the fabulous Charlotte Tilbury team, who will be giving us fabulous tips on how best to apply their makeup whilst talking us through some of their new products.
I have also been busy organising an event with Simone Oaks, a fellow influencer based in Yorkshire. This event will be held in York and all bloggers and influencers are most welcome. There will be limited tickets, so be sure to get yours when they are available. We have a fabulous PR team coming to talk to us and share their expertise on how to create your own media kit, and a brilliant photographer who will be sharing tips and advice on how to get the best photos for your social media.
Of course, we are all very much looking forward to the string of bank holidays that this month is bringing and particularly the extra one for the coronation of King Charles III. I am delighted to be working with Crew Clothing on a special Coronation collaboration. To help with this collaboration, I will be using lots of props, some of which have come from Eleanor Tomlinson. Eleanor is an award-winning artist and illustrator based in Yorkshire, who I am lucky enough to have known for quite a few years. I first met her a country living show and just loved her art and work so much that I begged her to come to my Enterprise Collective events. To celebrate the coronation, she has launched a special Coronation Collection which includes mugs, tea towels, aprons, oven gloves, cushion covers, fabric, jigsaws and prints. Everything can be found on her website, and I can’t wait to be showcasing some of it on my Instagram page.
This month I am working on:-
It is an incredibly tough part of my job, but May and June are very busy months for spas! I have several press trips that I have been invited to and I can’t wait to give you some feedback and recommendations on spas in Yorkshire. One invite that is coming up soon is a press trip to Ragdale Hall Spa, which I have heard is one of the best spas in the UK. I am extremely excited about this and will report back with all my thoughts and findings!
I have recently started working with Vilarnau Barcelona, who make fabulous cava. Whilst collaborating with them, I will be running a competition for my followers and you will have the chance to win six bottles of their Rose Reserva Organic Cava. This would be a real treat to enjoy over a coming bank holiday weekend, so keep your eyes on my Instagram page!
This month I am excited for:-
Some warmer weather! I was a little premature in putting my winter wardrobe away this year and definitely need a little more warmth and sunshine. As the weather gets warmer, we will be sorting out our courtyard garden and balcony. Enjoying the outdoors and sitting outside to eat, drink and socialise is one of my favourite things to do in the summer and so getting our outside space ready is firmly on our to-do list.
In May half term we are off to Norfolk, which is one of my most happy places and somewhere that we all love going. One of my sisters lives on the Norfolk Broads and going to stay with her is always such a joy. This time we are staying in North Norfolk and so I am looking forward to being based in another part of this glorious county. I will be vlogging about our time there and writing a blog on everything that we get up to, so if you are interested in some top Norfolk tips, keep your eyes peeled!
I also have a ball to attend this month! This kind of event is not something that I do regularly and so I am looking for something suitable to wear. I am finding it very difficult to find to find a dress for a ball and don’t really know where to look; any suggestions about where to find one would be most gratefully received.
This month I am eating:-
Something that I am very jubilant about is the booking that I have made for the new Tommy Banks restaurant in Byland. The double Michelin-starred chef is much famed for his Black Swan at Oldstead and has now opened a family friendly pub a mile away. The Abbey Inn is due to open at the end of May and overlooks the incredible ruins of Byland Abbey. I can’t wait to try it!
This month I am buying:-
I recently ordered this Relaxed Fit V-Neck Tee from Holland Cooper. Although it is a little more pricey than other t-shirts, I am really pleased with it and think it is worth the price tag. It has a relaxed but smart look; the quality is excellent and I just love the buttons on the shoulders.
Now that we are at the cusp of warmer temperatures and on the brink of baring some skin, it is about time to reach for the fake tan. My go-to and absolute favourite brand is Bare by Vogue Williams. My favourite shade is medium, and you choose from either Self Tan Lotion or Self Tan Foam.
I am also really loving this wonderful Great Day Hand & Body Wash from Neom Organics. The smell is sensational and it is fragranced with wild mint and mandarin and other essential oils, with seaweed and pomegranate to gently cleanse and soften your skin.
This month I am listening to:-
The podcast that I am seriously enjoying at the moment is ‘How To Own The Room’. Viv Groskop, the comedian, radio and TV presenter, talks to inspirational women who share tips and tricks about their secrets on how to be a brilliant speaker. Each episode is called a ‘masterclass’ and they are on topics such as ‘How to Cure Imposter Syndrome’, ‘How to Overcome Nerves’ ‘How to be Confident” and I really recommend giving them a listen.
I am wishing you all a wonderful May. It is a month that holds so much positivity and promise and there is so much to celebrate! Don’t forget to keep an eye on my vlog to see what I am getting up to and on my Instagram for those competitions and events.
Much love,
Caroline x
