Hobbs York Event

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

I am thrilled to tell you all about the incredible event that I organised with Hobbs in York last week!

Having the opportunity to work with Hobbs is a real dream come true. Alongside my mum and sister, I have loved the Hobbs brand for years and years. Hobbs was originally a small boot and shoe company based in London which has evolved into a “womenswear brand synonymous with the best of British design”. Their contemporary yet timeless styles can be found nationwide in their shops and as concessions in many department stores, including John Lewis, Fenwicks to name a few.

In September, I was delighted to be invited to Hobbs’ press event in London with my friends Fran & Niki. After attending this fabulous day, I decided that there needs to be more events like this in the north. Since everything tends to be focused on London, I arranged an event with Hobbs for fellow influencers and bloggers in York. It was such a fun evening: over drinks, all the invitees met the York Hobbs team and enjoyed instore styling with the Hobbs style advisors. In addition, the wonderful Laura Fawcett, who is a Personal Stylist and Makeup Artist based in York, Leeds and Harrogate, was also there to talk us through styling some of Hobbs’ winter season pieces especially for Christmas.

As a freelance personal stylist, Laura offers the following services: Wardrobe Declutter, Personal Shopping, Signature Style Session, Virtual Styling, Men’s Styling and Make Up Artist. Laura is mindful about the impact that fast fashion has on the environment and her motto is “Choose Well, Wear More, Waste Less”. She always focuses on helping her clients to make choices that suit their colouring, body shape and lifestyle to get the maximum wear out of their clothes. I felt that this mantra married well with the timeless and classic pieces that Hobbs design and offer in their collections. It was so fantastic to see Laura showcasing the best of Hobbs’ key looks for the festive period and she passed on so many great tips! Check out her website to see how she can help with your styling; I cannot recommend her enough!

Here are some of the fantastic pieces that were on show at the event:

I absolutely love this metallic Annabella Pleated Skirt; completely perfect for a festive party! It is fully lined and can be worn with lots of different combinations of tops, knits, jerseys or blouses and would also suit a heel, pump or boot, giving it loads of flexibility and wear.

The Faye Velvet Top would also be a fantastically versatile piece for the Christmas period as it can be dressed up and down and work for both daytime and evening events.

Similarly, the Olive Sparkle Roll Neck Jumper has an effortless day-to-night look and could be paired with an endless combination of skirts and trousers. The roll neck will keep you warm and the sparkle ensures it would be the perfect layering piece for your festive wardrobe!

For something a little more casual, I just love this Aleena Jumper. It is a super-soft yarn, blended with wool, cotton and alpaca and would look great styled with skinny jeans and boots. The Melodie Jumper made from Merino wool with a cosy funnel neck and contemporary colour block is another stylish way to keep warm this winter.

I am still loving my fabulous Gabby Faux Fur Coat, which Hobbs kindly gifted me last month. The Bethany Faux Fur Coat and Maddox Coat, which come in a silver grey and olive green or dark berry are both gorgeous and would be perfect for all those festive dates in your diary.

I do love the glamour of animal print and this sensational Jas Midi Skirt could be worn with a chunky knit jumper or dressed up with heels.

And talking of glamour, check out this unbelievably fabulous gold suit! This Tamzin Jacket and trousers is just the most wonderful outfit, absolutely perfect for the festive season!

Hobbs’ classic Lyra Long Boot with a pointed toe and block heel, is yet another perfect addition to your day-to-night wardrobe and can effortlessly be worn with skinny jeans, dresses or skirts.

I keep having ‘pinch-me’ moments about working with Hobbs and I am still buzzing from the event! Thank you so much to the Hobbs York team for hosting, to Laura Fawcett for her clever ideas and tips and to everyone that came.
