Playroom Makeover

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

When Emma and Kirsten approached me about transforming my playroom, I jumped at the chance. Their company is called E.K loves and is a lifestyle solution company. They are the dream team who create organise beautiful homes in and around Yorkshire - in fact they can travel anywhere!

The play room is tucked away at the bottom of the house. When we moved in the playroom looked like this:

The wallpaper obviously had to go and this made it a blank canvas. Despite this, it is a room with no windows.

Here are some more before photos:

I set a brief for the E.K loves team:

The room needs to be...

  • Neutral for boys and girls

  • Suits range of children's ages

  • Somewhere the girls can do art

  • Somewhere the children can read

  • Somewhere for the board games to go and be hidden

Items I needed to keep were...

  • The grey sofa from Ikea

  • The TV

  • The Ikea units

Oh an I was on a tight time scale - so not much to ask! Team E.K loves sent over a mood board they sent me which I absolutely loved. In return, I got a shopping list for Ikea and off we went.

On the day of the makeover, Emma and Kirsten arrived early and ready for work. They brought with them lots of soft furnishings, tools and paints. I took the children out for the day so they could get on in peace. When we arrived back they were finishing off and then we were all invited in to see the magic.

The big reveal:

As you can imagine, we all absolutely loved it. Dividing the room up created two different spaces, making the room lighter and feel much bigger. The following day the girls went straight to the room and began playing at the crafts table.

Overall we can't thank Emma and Kirsten enough, what a transformation! It has totally changed how we use that room now. The children love going in there and I love the peace and quiet. For more information please email the girls ekloves@aol.com and get them started on your dream room.
